Undergraduate Checklist for Complete Withdrawal
We deeply regret that you have decided to leave GW, but understand that you are making the decision that best aligns with your academic and personal goals. Below are the steps required for you to withdraw to help ensure a smooth transition.
To Start:
- Know your deadlines
Deadlines vary at both University and school levels. Knowing them can help you prioritize your withdrawal steps and clarify your options. - Meet with your advising office
Your advisor can help guide you through the process, confirm deadlines, and get you started on the appropriate forms, including the Undergraduate Withdrawal Form. The completion of this form kicks off your withdrawal process. - Finalize your withdrawal with the Office for Student Success
The Office for Student Success (OSS) will help you through your next steps, including reaching out to other GW offices.
To Resolve:
- Settle account balances and request GWorld Refund
Reach out to Student Accounts to see if you have any remaining balances or credits. Reach out to the GWorld Office to request a refund if you have a balance on your GWorld card. - Contact GW Housing
Cancel your contract and begin the steps of checking out. - Update your information on GWeb
Should anyone at the University need to contact you, please make sure your personal information is up to date.
To Finalize:
- Check in with affiliated offices
Learn how your withdrawal will impact your affiliation with offices such as Office of Student Financial Aid & Student Accounts, Athletics, Disabilities Student Services, International Services Office, Military & Veteran Services, and Student Rights & Responsibilities. - Complete the GW withdrawal interview
